South Shore Bay Band Concert
The South Shore Bay Band is sure to delight and bring back childhood memories of attending summer concerts with family and friends. Band members are local musicians who entertain with old favorites such as Stars and Stripes by John Philip Sousa, Blue Ridge Saga by James Swearingen, Pride of the Fleet by James L. Hosay and other traditional tunes to get your feet tapping. Invite family and friends to share this summer concert and then stay for an outdoor Patio Night Dinner under the tent. Rain date is Sunday, August 1.
Sounds of Sinatra with Radio Personality Ron Della Chiesa
Ron Della Chiesa has carved out a career sharing his passions for music with an equally passionate listening audience. If you tune into radio station WGBH-FM you will hear him weekday mornings as Ron goes the classical route or on Friday nights when jazz is his choice. Saturday night it is Strictly Sinatra on radio WPLM-FM. Ron brings us a show to celebrate the career of the remarkable Frank Sinatra who dedicated his life to the Great American Songbook and left a legacy of unrivaled recordings that are true monuments of art.
A Gershwin Gala with Summertime Root Beer Floats
Jazz, classical, Broadway and popular songs—composer George Gershwin could do it all! His music has entertained and inspired audiences and performers alike for nearly a century. Hit songs such as Summertime and I Got Rhythm, as well as orchestral masterpieces like Rhapsody in Blue are beloved the world over. Pianist Alex Gordon, grandson of a Village Resident, graduate of Harvard University and currently studying for his Masters in Jazz Performance at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, will perform at 2:00PM. Cold refreshments will be served at 1:45 PM.
Baritone Andrew Garland in Concert
Baritone Andrew Garland is saluted for having a “distinctly American presence” (The New York Times) and for his coloratura which borders on the “phenomenal” (Opera News). Rapidly gaining recognition as an opera concert and recital singer, he has performed in Europe, Asia and across the Americas. Villagers have followed his rising career with a special pride, knowing that he is the grandson of a Village Resident. We welcome him to our Village stage for a program of American songs. A wine and cheese reception will follow his performance.
Summer Poetry in the Garden and Lemonade
A shady spot, a comfortable chair and a glass of lemonade will be the setting as we read favorite summer poetry. Summer poems can carry you away into a world of imagination with descriptions of the sight, sounds and beauty of the season. If you choose, bring a favorite poem to read. Or just come, relax and listen, and let the sounds of poetry take you down an imaginary garden path.

Bring along a copy of your favorite recipe—Resident Services will include it in a recipe booklet they will soon be putting together.
